Pitch Perfect Science

Pitch Perfect Science

This term we have been studying science, Me and my friend Amber have been studying the science of pitch and how it changes throughout time and whether many other variables would affect how high and how low your voice could go and if gender, age and puberty have a difference.
This is Amber and my board.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this terms inquiry. If i had to do this experiment again I would change the microphone that we used for a more professional microphone.
What experiment would you do if you had to test for this question?
This term’s inquiry has been loads of fun and i have learned so many things about the scientific method, how to carry out an experiment and loads more of cool stuff. This term the teachers really helped me through this experience by assisting us by helping us with our conclusion.

Science Fair Explanation

In Mr.Gillstrom's Literacy class we had to write how the results of our experiments happened.
 This is my Explannation.

The reason we got these result are because when a teenager is going through puberty their larynx (vocal box) is changing and is growing tissue around the vocal cords which make your voice go deeper. Thats why little kids voices are naturally really high and older peoples are low. With teenagers the tissue is just growing which is just the right amount of tissue to make a high or low voice.

The Flying Tea bag

           Flying Tea Bag

The flying tea bag trick is an extremely easy trick only using a couple of household objects and is very quick. But how does it fly up into the sky? Let me explain

Once you’ve set up the whole thing and set the tea bag on fire. While it's on fire the energy from the flames is transferring to the air molecules making the air molecules move really fast. Also because it's in a cylindrical shape and your burning it from the top the air down the bottom is trapped.

So the air molecules are moving around more a lot more and are taking up a lot more space making the air denser. Therefore is under pressure and sometimes things pop when they are under pressure. So it pops ever so slightly, but then the cold air from the outside gets in and goes in so fast that it lifts the tea bag off the ground.

So if you ever chose to do this trick just try to imagine all those tiny molecules at the bottom of the tea bag squirming around trying to find a way out of the burning apocalypse.

How chocolate is made

    How chocolate is made

One day in literacy I watched a video talking about how chocolate made. This is another interpretation.

Throughout history, people have eaten chocolate for many reasons like for a tasty treat or if you break up with someone. This is the way for Hundreds of years chocolate has been made.

Farmers need to collect cocoa beans that have been growing for 6 months on a cocoa tree in some part of the equatorial forest. Once they are harvested and taken from the cocoa pod the beans are left and covered for fermenting and a left for 5-7 days. Then are dried for 6 days.

At the collection centres the beans are weighed and checked for quality, they are then put into bags and shipped by either boat or land vehicle and are sent to the cocoa factory.

In the factory, the beans are washed, dried and split up into nibs. The nibs are then roasted and ground into a thin and fine liquid called cocoa liquor. After that cocoa liquor can be processed into cocoa butter and cocoa powder.

Making the chocolate, The cocoa liquor is then mixed with cocoa butter, sugar and milk and is put through a type of process called conching. Conching makes the chocolate smooth and creamy. Other ingredients may be added after being conched. Then the chocolate is delivered to a packaging facility. After packaging they are then shipped to the stores and sold.

Chocolate is delicious, sweet, smooth and all round the best type of food ever. You can get hundreds of different types chocolate from numerous chocolatiers.
